Repair Time Determination with the MEKBY and MYSBY Methods
The MEKBY and MYSBY methods are time planning systems specifically developed by Consulting AB Lennermark & Andersson for the determination of labour operation times for automobile repair settlements. These methods are used by all the large European automobile manufacturers.
The MEKBY method is employed for the calculation of mechanical labour operation times, i.e. for general automobive repairs. In the Swedish language, MEKanik stands for ‘mechanical´ and BYta for ‘replace´. The method is used to calculate repair times in regards to the inspection and service of the motor, transmission, gearbox, braking system, suspension, steering, and electronic systems, as well as in the air conditioning or ventilation, or for other deficiencies.
MYSBY is a method for the calculation of the labour operation time for auto body repairs. It is made up of time formulas for frame straightening, dent removal, welding, and replacement. The meaning of these four tasks in Swedish, is where the name comes from: Mattrikta, Ytrikta, Svetsbyta, and BYta.
Labour operation times can be determined with these methods using DMU data, repair descriptions, video records, and actual disassembly tests.
As-Is Work Time, As-Is Process Time, and As-Is System Time Determination
With the help of multi-functional, intelligent stop watch software PROTAC-WATCH, we determine as-is work time, as-is process time, and as-is system time. This software makes observation of individual work methods, work processes, work procedures, and work operations possible. These are used for time studies in the auto repair shop and in optimisation of manufacturing facilities.
